Understand the problem
Restate the problem precisely. Interviewers reward candidates who pause, define the contract, and name the guarantees before coding.
Problem statement
Given two strings `s` and `t`, determine if they are isomorphic. Two strings are isomorphic if the characters in `s` can be replaced to get `t` such that all occurrences of a character must be replaced with another character while preserving order. No two characters may map to the same character, but a character may map to itself.
Example
s = "egg", t = "add" → true
Constraints
1 ≤ s.length ≤ 5 × 10⁴ · t.length == s.length · s and t consist of any valid ASCII characters
